SRECTrade.com is an online brokerage platform for Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs), a key component of making solar energy affordable in a growing number of U.S. states. An SREC is credited for every megawatt-hour of electricity produced by a solar facility and can be sold to energy companies who need them to meet statewide solar energy requirements. SRECTrade helps solar facility owners obtain the proper approval to sell SRECs, facilitates the buying and selling of SRECs, provides software to track account and transaction histories and offers the leading market research product in the industry.

"The SRECTrade team is ambitious. The group works within a laid back San Francisco office but has has high standards, countless ideas for perpetual growth and a strong moral obligation to their customers. Everyone comes together to make SRECTrade run smoothly and as an intern I was given responsibility and independence with room to voice my opinion as well as the support I needed to complete my assignments. Everyone there was willing to take time out of their own project to go in depth with me about a something I was curious about whether that be an interesting trade from the brokerage desk or a set of new excel skills.
Working with SREC markets is dynamic and exciting. You always have an idea of what the day will look like, but could be sent a curve ball any moment. The markets are big enough that they are meaningful and that you are inspired to work hard for SRECTrade’s customers, but small enough that you can see how minor policy shifts have major impacts on solar installation rates, human behavior, and SREC revenue. I had a blast working at SRECTrade and will take the skills I’ve learned here to many future endeavors to come."

Having just finished a Master's in Entrepreneurship, it was a great way for me to study the industry, make connections, and figure out what aspects of the cleantech space interested me most. At SRECTrade, I was able to structure projects according to what I wanted to gain out of the internship. The company has been growing rapidly, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to be a part of the solar industry."

"I was given significant responsibility and was treated like a valuable member of the team. Besides learning about solar energy and the SREC industry, the communication and interpersonal skills I gained by interacting with customers on a daily basis will help me in anything I do in the future.
