EasyREC Application FAQ
What are the EasyREC fees?
EasyREC customers can view a breakdown of the fees charged by SRECTrade on the EasyREC Fees page. The service fee for EasyREC covers the cost of setting up and managing your SREC account so that the creation and sale of SRECs are automated. An additional transaction fee is assessed to all customers regardless of whether they utilize the EasyREC service.
I want to submit my application online, what can I expect?
-
Set up your online SRECTrade.com account by signing up here. You can then select the option to "Enroll in EasyREC". Then fill out the online EasyREC application under the "Account Information" tab of your online account.
-
SRECTrade will first review the application to ensure that it is complete. You can check the progress of your application on the "Account Information" tab of your online account.
-
Once all the application materials and applicable payments are received, SRECTrade will submit an application to each state selected in the application. Each state requires several pages of applications and documents verifying the existence, operation and title of the solar facility.
-
It typically takes 10-12 weeks to get a response on the approval of your facility for a state's SREC program. In that time, each state is processing an increasing volume of applications that require several layers of validation to ensure the accuracy of the SREC program.
-
Once approved, SRECTrade will set up your account with the appropriate SREC registry. These registries are contracted by the state to provide the software platform used to create and track SRECs. Every facility that wants to generate SRECs must be registered with the appropriate SREC registry. GATS and NEPOOL GIS are examples of tracking systems used by states.
-
Once you are set up with the SREC registry, we can begin creating your SRECs. In most states, your first set of SRECs will be generated all the way back to the Date of Interconnection. At this point, if you are eligible for "Estimated Production" then your SRECs will automatically be created based on industry standard estimates provided by the PV Watts Calculator and approved by your state. If you need to report meter readings each month, SRECTrade will send a reminder to submit readings using an online form on SRECTrade.com.
-
In most states, SRECs are generated the first day of each month on a one-month delay. This means that your January SRECs will be available on February 28 and ready for sale in the March auction and so on. This process is different in Massachusetts where SRECs are created quarterly on a one quarter delay, so your January SRECs aren't available until mid-July. SRECTrade will automatically post the SRECs in the auction at the minimum price that you have selected. You need not do anything else.
-
SREC auctions will close at 5pm the last working day of each month. All of your SRECs are automatically included in the auction at the minimum price you have set. You can adjust your minimum price any time before auction closes through your online SRECTrade.com account. Again, you do not need to do anything at this time unless you want to change your minimum price.
-
Results are posted within two working days after the auction closes. You will be notified of your results by email, and will be able to view your statement online in your SRECTrade.com account. If you are unsucessful or if you did not create any SRECs, you will also be notified.
-
SRECTrade collects SRECs and payments, clears funds and finalizes transactions. This will take approximately 10 business days.
-
Once payments are initiated, it typically takes 3-5 business days before you will receive either a check in the mail or a credit to your bank account. You will typically receive payment for any sold SRECs no later than the last week of the month in which the auction occured.
-
This process repeats each month with the collection of meter readings.
Do I need to pay an application fee for an SREC program in my home state?
No. There is no application fee to your home state if it has an SREC market. Currently, these states are DC, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania. If you want to submit applications to other states, there is a $50 fee per application. Also, if you are ineligible for your home state "SREC" market but eligible for another market such as the "Out of State SREC" market in Ohio, there is a $50 application fee.
What are my options with respect to State Certifications?
We can register your system in any state SREC program for which you are eligible (see our State Certifications page). There is no cost to have SRECTrade submit a state certification to your home state's SREC market. If your state does not have an SREC market, if you are ineligible for your state's SREC market, or if you would like to apply to additional state markets, there is a $50 application fee for each state market. These fees will cover the costs incurred by SRECTrade to process the applications. As with everything else in the solar industry, state certifications take time. Please expect the application process to take at least 8 weeks before we are able to set up your SREC tracking account and begin generating SRECs. Customers may opt to submit their own applications. Information to do so is found on the State Certifications page.
I would like to submit out-of-state applications to get my facility certified in other states. Where do I send my application fee?
SRECTrade, Inc.
1100 Cedar Rd Ste B #107
Chesapeake, VA 23322
I have set up my SRECTrade account but can't see my facility information. Why can't I see my information yet?
This is either because your SREC registry account has not been set up yet and your facility has not generated SRECs or because your SRECTrade.com account was created using a different email than the one you used to enroll in EasyREC. In that case, contact us with your username and we will make sure to "Link" your facility data to your SRECTrade.com account.
How do I submit my meter readings?
Use your account on SRECTrade.com, unless you are in Massachusetts, in which case, you should use go to the MassCEC website.
