Prepaid SREC Markets

SRECTrade operates a trading platform for buying and selling SREC streams for solar facilities with upfront payments. This is a fluid and transparent market setup to provide a means for solar owners to sell some or all of their facility's future SRECs in return for an upfront payment. Buyers now have a platform for taking advantage of arbitrage opportunities in this market while providing valuable financing to prospective solar owners. Our intention in building this marketplace is to create a market-based mechanism for long-term contracts in the SREC industry.

Eligibility Requirements
1. All facilities must qualify for estimated generation. Since your forward SRECs are being purchased up front, estimated generation is required in order to guarantee that the buyer will receive the SRECs.  If your facility does not qualify, you must enter our SREC Forwards market where sellers receive payment-on-delivery.

2. All facilities must be enrolled in the SRECTrade EasyREC program.  If you want to sell some or all of your forward SRECs, your facility must be managed by SRECTrade. This way SRECTrade can ensure delivery of the SRECs to the buyer when they are generated.  The SRECs you don't sell in the Prepaid SREC market can be sold in the SREC Auction when they are created.

3. Buyers are making payments upfront and therefore do not need to post any collateral in order to participate in the Prepaid SREC market.

Getting Started For Sellers
1. First, utilize our SREC Calculator to get an estimate for the value of your facilities SRECs.

2. Sign up for our EasyREC service. There are no sign up costs involved in the service.  SRECTrade will then register your SREC in every state in which it is available.  The Prepaid SREC market, unlike the SREC Auction, is based on the state of origin.  However, we require that all SRECs are certified in every state in which it is eligible.  This is to guarantee to both the buyer and seller that the full value of the SRECs are realized.  For example, all SRECs originated in Virginia will be registered in Pennsylvania and DC and sold to buyers as Virginia SRECs under the buyer's assumption that they are eligible in Pennsylvania and DC.

3. Once you have signed up for EasyREC, you can log into your SRECTrade account and click on your EasyREC Account summary.  This will show you all the SRECs that will be generated by your facility based on the estimates for your system.  You can then simply select any of the future SRECs and offer them up for sale in the Prepaid SREC market.  The SRECs will then be listed in the Prepaid SREC market until they or sold or they are removed by you.  Another benefit of this market is that if your SREC is not sold in the Prepaid market before it comes available in the auction, then you can simply sell it at auction.

Getting Started For Buyers
1. Buyers can submit bids to buy SRECs upfront using our Prepaid SREC Order Form. As mentioned, all SRECs are listed by state of origin.  SRECTrade will ensure that all facilities are certified and registered in every state in which they are eligible.  If you bid on a West Virginia SREC, you will receive an SREC generated from a facility in West Virginia that has been regsitered in Ohio, Pennsylvania and DC.

2. When you have successfully purchased an SREC, the SREC will then appear in your SRECTrade account.  Since SRECTrade is creating a fluid market for Prepaid SRECs, any SREC in your account can also be sold to other buyers at any time.  To sell your SRECs, simply log into your SRECTrade account and select your EasyREC Account page.  This will show you all the SRECs you have available in your account.  You can then select any of the SRECs and offer them up for sale in the Prepaid (or Forward) market.
