Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) markets are available based on state renewable portfolio standard (RPS) laws. In order to have an SREC market, a state must have a carve-out for solar generation within the RPS that creates a demand for solar specific RECs. To date, Alabama does not have an SREC market, but there may be opportunities to sell Alabama-sited SRECs into other state markets.
