About SRECTrade
InClime, LLC, the parent company of SRECTrade.com, was founded by graduate students at Stanford University in late 2007. The company first focused on solar technology applications, but soon shifted their attention to the inefficient Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) market. Small commercial and residential solar producers and the utilities that needed to buy their SRECs were having a difficult time connecting. Buyers and sellers of SRECs were frustrated by the lack of a transparent, fair and public marketplace that facilitated the sale of SRECs in a cost-effective way.
SRECTrade launched its online auction platform in August 2008. The first auction successfully matched buyers and sellers of New Jersey SRECs and has since expanded to other states. The market is now efficient, transparent and convenient. Utilities are able to meet their SREC needs less expensively, and solar producers receive more money for their SRECs. With monthly auctions, solar owners can now earn a quicker return on their solar investments and the investment in the technology has become more economical. Our ultimate hope is that our services enable and expedite the adoption of solar power across the U.S.
Despite developing the sophisticated auction platform, SRECTrade is a customer service oriented business. In addition to the need for a public SREC market, SRECTrade provides up-to-date educational information on SREC markets as well as services, such as EasyREC, that make selling SRECs as painless as possible. The hands-free EasyREC service essentially puts the selling of SRECs on autopilot and as a result, it has quickly become the most popular way to sign up for SRECTrade. Today SRECTrade is not only a company focused on building markets through innovative auctions, but also entirely devoted to servicing the needs of solar owners nationwide.
